Pineapple Awards

May 2023

Last night Low Line Commons received yet another honour, this time at the Pineapple Awards where it topped the Future Public Realm category. Up against some very strong competition in a much coveted category, this is nothing short of a fantastic achievement with judges commending the project as a “blueprint for sensitive regeneration”.

Folkestone Harbour Link

March 2023

Landscape Institute Award – Winner

We are thrilled to announce that Macfarlane + Associates have won the 2019 Landscape Institute Awards for “Enhancing Culture and Heritage” for the unique and extraordinary Folkestone Harbour Link.

The Harbour Link has been a vital component in regenerating Folkestone and has breathed new life into the seafront. The design sensitivity transforms the harbourside heritage setting with memorable and usable public realm in a way that is respectful to their distinct character and past.

Having been closed since 2001, the newly regenerated Harbour Station’s platforms were reopened in Spring 2018 and are now used as the pedestrian route to and from the Harbour Arm. Various art and rail installations can now be found, adding further interest to the Station. Without this regeneration, the Harbour and heritage structures sited there would have continued to deteriorate until they would eventually have been beyond repair.
