Phoenix Yards, Digbeth

Emblematic of the ongoing transformation of Digbeth is Phoenix Yards – a £100 million regeneration of a 2.8-acre former industrial site in central Birmingham. As a landmark project within the wider area, it will contribute a new, future-focused destination that strengthens the district’s identity as a key gateway into Digbeth’s creative quarter, aligning with the area’s growing reputation as a centre for innovation and contemporary culture. In partnership with Hartwell PLC and AHMM, and working closely with Ridge, Cundall, Hoare Lea and Newmark UK, the scheme brings forward a dynamic mixed-use neighbourhood that includes around 260,000sqft of media and educational space, new commercial and retail units, and 240 homes.

Public realm and landscape sit at the heart of the proposals, creating a sequence of welcoming green spaces and routes inspired by the site’s industrial heritage. Designed to encourage collaboration, social activity and everyday wellbeing, these spaces are supported by strong sustainability ambitions, including targets for BREEAM Excellent, WELL certification and biodiversity net gain.
