The regeneration of former industrial goods yard at Paddington presented a significant challenge for the designers of Paddington Central. M+A were instrumental in masterplanning the site including the exciting dramatic central plaza with Sheldon Square, the centrepiece which has become a recognisable space synonymous with Paddington.
Developing bespoke public art, lighting, seating and accessibility strategies to enhance truly meaningful public realm has set a benchmark for the wider area and shaped the development into the successful new urban quarter that exists today.
A unique destination for London, the sweeping amphitheatre invites a broad audience to dwell in this dramatic events space, adjoined by an award-winning footbridge linking the Paddington Basin and the picturesque Little Venice. The mature lime tree avenue provides a structured green façade between the square and the canal side residential apartments. The Partners at M+A delivered the planning and construction of this project whilst at Lovejoy.
