The wonderfully established landscape of the former Caterham hospital provided a ready-made setting to this new residential community. New houses were sensitively located amongst large trees giving the development an immediate maturity and an instant appeal to the marketplace.

M+A were appointed to create the landscape masterplan, detailed design and construction package for the site which had a significant amount of development constraint with the presence of mature and protected trees.

The simple, organic design of the residential gardens and public open space suits the context of the site and its natural setting. Retention of existing trees was imperative due to its Green Belt location.
