Reigniting the gateway to the city, Whitbread’s project to regenerate their prominent riverside site in Norwich into a new urban living quarter is back underway. Working alongside Shepperd Robson, proposals are to transform a dated hotel and underutilised adjoining land into a mixed-use community with a 240-room anchor hotel alongside 500 student dwellings, affordable housing and commercial office space.

The public realm design approach prioritises creating a diverse series of spaces for students, residents, workers and visitors. Emphasis has been placed on enhancing existing green spaces and opening up access to the river through greater sitewide permeability and a waterfront walkway.
