A new era has dawned for the TV and film industry, with the state-of-the-art production facilities being unveiled in Bedfordshire. Home of Production (HOP) is spearheading a new film and TV studio development which will feature 65,000m2 of high-quality studios and workshops in a size and format unprecedented in the UK. Offices, food and beverage facilities as well as a crèche and a creative hub will line the central boulevard and canal in the centre of the site.
The plans for the industry-transforming facilities are bringing an exciting new use to the region, boosting the local economy with thousands of jobs and skilled opportunities in former brick quarry and brownfield site.
Alongside Scott Brownrigg, M+A led the landscape masterplanning delivering flexible, ‘shootable’ space as a resource and backdrop for filming. The requirement for daytime and night time amenity seven days a week shaped the landscape strategy ensuring a clear hierarchy of useable spaces and routes throughout the site. Focusing on biodiversity, the masterplan aims to harmonise the development with its green surroundings, maximising biodiversity net gain through the design of the central green spine.
