Crown Wharf, Canning Town

Soon to be barely recognisable from the swathes of light-industrial land that have characterised this part of London, Canning Town centre continues to undergo ambitious regeneration with the development of a hugely challenging 1.5-hectare site next to the river Lea estuary.

Creating welcoming, navigable public space through an inhospitable part of Newham, was a primary driver for the public realm strategy working alongside JTP Architects and Metropolitan Workshop. The ambitious development will connect the river Lea walk to Canning Town inter-modal public transport hub. This exciting new urban quarter has a clear hierarchy of traffic-free public, semi-public and private amenity space catering for residents and visitors alike with a focus on biodiversity net gain
