GLEN MACFARLANE APPOINTED TO TASK FORCE PANEL

The regeneration strategy for our High Streets and Town Centres has taken a huge leap forward today with the announcement of a new panel of ‘Experts’ for the High Streets Task Force and we are delighted to announce that our Founding Principal, Glen Macfarlane, has accepted a place on the panel.

The new ‘experts register’ is the first of its kind in the UK – bringing together experienced professionals across a broad range of specialisms. The Task Force has recruited highly qualified experts from leading national bodies: Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), Landscape Institute, Design Council, and the Institute of Place Management.

These new High Street Task Force Experts, Mentors and Facilitators will deliver a range of services, including workshops with local authorities and communities to explore and build local visions, mentoring for place leaders, and bespoke advice to help councils tackle complex issues that are blocking progress.

The Task Force have also developed a Routemap to Transformation. As town centres reopen, it is clear that COVID-19 has accelerated change in the high street. Multiple retailers will no longer be the dominant attraction in most town centres and so the high street needs to be redefined.
