Plans have been submitted for the regeneration of Dominion, Safari Cinema in Harrow. Working alongside if…architecture, the development seeks to restore the venue to its former glory by revealing the unique Art Deco facade that has been hidden for over 50 years.

The development will retain the existing character and function of the 1930’s cinema, whilst providing 78 new residential units above.

The landscape proposals provide reconditioned ground floor public and private realm, and two intensive rooftop gardens for residents, on the first and fifth floors.

Landscape is fundamental to the project; creating accessible new green connections, incorporating a variety of ecological interventions, helping to improve local air quality and a healthier environment. The concept proposes a sustainable drainage system using ecological engineering methods, such as bioswale planting and street-level rain gardens, to avoid surface flooding and store water. The project features increased green infrastructure – tree planting, community gardens and wildlife habitats – to help create a ‘sense of place’ for the community and encourage more people to visit the Low Line.
