London Real Estate Forum 2026: Reflecting on a day shaping London’s future
We joined industry leaders at the London Real Estate Forum 2026, where the opening message was clear: London is in a global race for investment, and the #OneBuiltEnvironment initiative calls for collaboration to tackle the planning inconsistency, regulatory barriers and poor connectivity holding the capital back.
One word followed us from session to session: viability. Against a target of 85,000 new homes a year, London delivered just 33,000, with starts on site at a ten-year low and build costs up 34% in five years. Amid a sluggish economy, weak demand and uncertainty ahead of the new Chancellor’s first Autumn Statement, real progress will need greater risk-sharing and a planning framework stable enough for investors to plan against.
What encouraged us most were the conversations championing innovation and a vision for a greener, better connected, people-first London, reflecting the placemaking principles we believe in. London’s future will be shaped by collaboration, transparency and a genuine commitment to communities alongside ambition, and we’re proud to be part of that conversation.
