A PREMIER REVITALISATION

Following two phases of public consultation to shape the development plans, Whitbread has successfully submitted a planning application for the regeneration of the Premier Inn Norwich Nelson City Centre site. In collaboration with architect Sheppard Robson, the proposals aim to transform a dated yet popular hotel and the underutilized adjoining land into a vibrant mixed-use community. This development will feature a 240-bedroom latest format Premier Inn hotel, alongside 500 student dwellings and new homes.

The public realm design approach prioritises creating a diverse series of spaces for visitors, students, residents and workers. Emphasis has been placed on enhancing existing green spaces and opening up access to the river through greater sitewide permeability and a waterfront walkway.

The proposal will create over 11,500 sqm of publicly accessible space, featuring a widened riverside promenade that enhances the walking experience along the river. Additionally, a generous public plaza will provide a welcoming area for socializing and enjoying views of the water.

Additional extensive planting and new trees promote biodiversity net gain and will provide a green, relaxing environment with ample seating opportunities and spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy.
