BROAD STREET MALL, READING – A MALL FOR THE FUTURE
Plans to transform an ailing 1970s shopping centre into a state-of-the-art, 600-unit BTR scheme are underway. Located in central Reading, the site forms a significant part of the wider strategic Minster Quarter Development for which the council is looking for a JV partner.
McLaren Living, who have partnered with investment fund AEW for this detailed planning application, are looking to refine another developer’s extant permission for a 422-unit scheme granted approval in March 2020. Having never been implemented, our team are focusing on technical delivery as well as improvements in housing quality and quantity.
Working alongside AHR Architects, M+A are designing a public realm that celebrates surrounding heritage assets and transforms this former civic hub into a mixed-use destination. High-quality private amenity space on podium courtyards and roof terraces will provide unobstructed views across Reading and cater to all resident’s needs through flexible, useable space and integrated play features.
